Cold laser refers to a laser that emits light in a specific range of wavelengths, usually between 600-1000 nm. This range of wavelengths is useful because they can pass through the skin, but aren’t powerful enough to cause damage, or produce heat (hence “cold” laser). Basically, what you usually have is a small light panel that is placed near or on skin, which shines light on the area that is being treated.
What It Does
As mentioned earlier, the laser emits light in a wavelength range that penetrates skin. This specific light is used by the cells in our body to increase energy production. With this extra energy available, our cells can reproduce faster than normal, and remodel injured tissue. The effects on cells can decrease inflammation, increase blood flow, and increase healing rates. This is what provides long term reduction in pain and symptoms. It turns out that laser may actually be that “miracle cure.”
Can Cold Laser Help You?
Cold lasers increase healing speed, and can help a wide range of conditions. A few of the conditions cold laser can be used for are:
- Acute and chronic pain
- Ligament sprains
- Muscle strain
- Soft tissue injuries
- Tendonitis
- Arthritis
- Tennis elbow
- Back pain
- Bursitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Fibromyalgia
Cold laser is FDA approved, safe, effective, and relatively inexpensive.
